Following is the latest update for OFHS students/parents, sent via email to all OFHS families on 6/18/18:
Dear High School Bulldog Families,
We hope you are enjoying summer vacation. In preparation for the 2018-2019 school year, we wanted to reach out to our families and provide new information to help with your planning and preparation for the start of the school year.
Please read over the information carefully and contact the main office at (440) 427-6100 if you have any questions or concerns.
1. Freshman/New Student Orientation.
- We are excited to announce that Olmsted Falls High School will be having a full-day Freshman/New Student Orientation to kick off the 2018-2019 school year. All incoming freshmen/new students will be required to attend school on Thursday, September 6th, 2018 from 8:10 a.m. to 2:46 p.m. Regular bus transportation times will be provided to and from the high school on this date.
- Students will participate in large group and small group sessions, meet with student mentors, follow the entire schedule for the school day, participate in an Activities Fair, complete the health and vision screening required by the State of Ohio and obtain their locker assignment. Lunch will be provided for all students.
- Please make sure your son or daughter wears comfortable clothes on September 6th - it is going to be a busy day. Our school counselors, student ambassadors, faculty and staff will be present for our Orientation Day to help answer any questions and to make sure that all students start the year off knowing they have the support of every adult in the building.
2. First Day of School for Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
- The first day of school for all returning Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be Friday, September 7th, 2018. We will be hosting a cookout during all lunch periods on this first full day of school. (*Please note that this is a change from the previously released 2018-2019 OFCS School Year Calendar which indicated Thursday, September 6th as the first day of school for students in grades 1-12.)
3. School Hours.
- The school day will officially begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at 2:46 p.m. Students who have AP Physics, AP Chemistry, CCP Biology or AP United States History have been informed they might be attending an Early Bird lab. Students enrolled in Sports Performance will start their school day at 7:20 a.m. All other students need to arrive for their 1st period class by 8:10 a.m.
4. High School Busing.
- Any students utilizing morning busing will arrive at school at approximately 7:05 a.m. Afternoon buses arrive at approximately 3:00 p.m.
5. Parking Passes.
- Parking passes will be available for purchase in the Student Office beginning at 1:00 p.m. on August 30th for all Seniors. Parking passes will go on sale for Juniors on September 4th, 2018. Parking passes will go on sale for Sophomores beginning September 6th, 2018. Please visit the High School website and click on the “Information & Downloads” tab for vehicle registration information. Parking passes cost $25.00, please bring cash or check with the completed registration information when you stop in to buy the pass.
6. School Calendar Updates.
- First Day of School for all Freshman and all New Students - September 6, 2018.
- First Day of School for all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors - September 7, 2018.
- Open House for OFHS - September 10, 2018 starting at 7:00 p.m.
7. Semester Exams.
- Students will be taking their semester exams during the week of January 22, 2019.
8. Building Access.
- A reminder that OFHS is under construction. The offices will be staffed beginning August 17, 2018, but we will not have full-building access until the end of the month. If you need assistance, please call or email.
