Hi! My name is Cassandra DeLuca and I am your child's new school counselor! I have beena first grade teacher for ten years here in Olmsted Falls. Although I am sad to let my role as a classroom teacher go, I am excited about this new opportunity to serve the students and families of Falls-Lenox and the ECC. School counselors have many duties within the school day. I will be doing classroom guidance lessons, running small groups, meeting with kids individually as needs arise, and collaborating with parents and teachers to ensure that students are getting what they need to reach their potential.

What are school counselors?
School counselors help promote the academic, personal, social, and emotional development of the students. The primary focus of the school counselor at this level is prevention. I work with ALL students to help them develop basic life skills and help them have a successful school year.
What types of services are provided?
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is a one-on-one meeting with a student to discuss a problem, concern, or issue in a confidential setting. Individual counseling sessions are short-term and each session may last between 5-30 minutes. The focus is on the development of coping and strategy building. Psychotherapy is not a service provided by school counselors. Small Group Counseling
Small groups provide a wonderful way for students to meet new friends and develop positive coping skills in a safe and fun environment. Groups are offered on a needs basis and meet weekly for about 4-8 thirty minute sessions.
Classroom Guidance
Throughout the year the counselor visits all classrooms and teaches lessons that are developmentally appropriate and preventative in nature. These lessons often focus on helping students build good character.
