We have been made aware of three major road closures going into effect in our community beginning Wednesday, October 8th.  We are providing the following information so that you will be aware of the impact on school bus routes as well as your own personal navigations around the community.

Please be aware that these road closures will likely create some unavoidable delays for all bus routes in our District.  Any students arriving late to school due to anticipated traffic delays experienced on their bus route will NOT be marked tardy.   Please know that our bus drivers and transportation department will be doing our best to get all students both to school and back home in the most efficient and timely manner possible.  Also note that there will be no changes to your student’s normal bus pick-up time.  ALL STUDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE AT THEIR ASSIGNED BUS STOPS AT THE USUAL TIME THROUGHOUT THE SCHEDULED CLOSURES.

The scheduled road closures are related to work needing to be completed by Norfolk and Southern at railroad crossings in our community.  The railroad has contracted with RoadSafe to coordinate these detours and there will be a presence during the entire course of the closure to assist with redirecting traffic, changing or altering the detour as needed.

Following are the road closures that are currently scheduled to begin next week:

STEARNS ROAD (October 8^th – October 14^th) – The Stearns Road crossing will be closed on October 8^th at 8:00 a.m. and remain closed until October 14^th.

MAPLEWAY ROAD (October 8^th – October 17^th) – The Mapleway Road crossing will closed on October 8^th at 8:00 a.m. will remain closed until October 17^th.

LEWIS ROAD (October 9^th or 10^th – October 17^th) – The Lewis Road crossing will be closed on or about October 9^th or 10^th and remain closed until October17th.

Obviously, the Fitch Road overpass will remain open and be a valuable route for crossing the railroad tracks during these closures.  In addition, the railroad crossings at Bronson Road and Brookside Drive will also remain open and available for crossing – with the exception of normal train traffic.
