FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM INFORMATION
In addition to its existing half-day kindergarten classes, Olmsted Falls City School District is pleased to be launching a full-day kindergarten program for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. Students in the full-day program will be taught the Olmsted Falls City Schools kindergarten curriculum. The extended instruction time allows for the integration of a variety of activities. The full-day kindergarten program will be a tuition based program (see cost information below) open to all students eligible to enter kindergarten in the 2016-2017 school year. Olmsted Falls City School District will also continue to offer its half-day program at no cost to parents.
WHAT IS THE TUITION COST FOR FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN?
The tuition cost for full-day kindergarten classes for the 2016-2017 school year is $2,400 per student ($200 per month with 12 month payment plan). Discounted rates have been established for families qualifying for the Federal Free/Reduced Meal Program as follows: $1,800 per student qualified for reduced meals ($150 per month with 12 month payment plan); and $1,200 per student qualified for free meals ($100 per month with 12 month payment plan).
All parents/guardians seeking to qualify for the sliding scale tuition discounts must complete a waiver form to share and confirm their Federal Free/Reduced status. Upon confirmation of free/reduced status, adjustments will be made accordingly to the monthly tuition payments for the year.
During the on-line registration process, a non-refundable deposit of $200 (one full month tuition) is required to secure a child’s spot in the full-day program. This deposit payment must be made online in order to complete your child’s registration in the full-day kindergarten program. This online deposit payment can be made with a credit card or through an electronic bank check. Please plan to have your payment information available when you are ready to complete the on-line registration process.
HOW & WHEN DO I REGISTER?
Olmsted Falls School District uses an online registration portal as the FIRST STEP in registering all new students to the District – including kindergarten students. There is no need to “camp out” or come into the ECC office in-person initially. All incoming kindergarten students – for both the half-day and full-day programs – must be first registered online. During the online registration process, there will be an opportunity to schedule your in-person registration appointment, which is the second step in the new student registration process.
New student registration for the 2016-2017 school year will open at noon on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. The link to the 2016-2017 new student registration portal will be accessible under “Quick Links” on any page of the District website at www.ofcs.net on and after February 16, 2016.
ALL CURRENT RESIDENTS OF OLMSTED FALLS CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT INTERESTED IN ENROLLING THEIR INCOMING KINDERGARTEN STUDENT INTO THE NEW FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN CLASSES MUST COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION ONLINE – INLCUDING DEPOSIT PAYMENT – BY FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2016. All families interested in enrolling their child in the new full-day kindergarten program will be accommodated. The March 4th deadline has been established to allow adequate time for planning and staffing purposes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER YOUR INCOMING KINDERGARTEN STUDENT IN THE EXISTING NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION PORTAL AVAILABLE FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR (2015-2016). The student registration portal is updated annually with new information and completing your student’s registration too early, in the wrong portal, will result in the need for the registration to be redone once the 2016-2017 portal is open on February 16th.
TUITION PAYMENT INFORMATION
Once enrolled, monthly tuition payments will automatically be withdrawn from the parent/guardian bank account beginning in August 2016. A direct withdrawal authorization form is to be completed prior to August 1, 2016. This required form will be provided to all families during their in-person registration appointment in March 2016.
Tuition will automatically be withdrawn on the 15th of every month beginning with August 15, 2016. (If the 15th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the tuition withdrawal will occur on Monday of the following week.) The non-refundable deposit of $200 made at the time of online registration will be applied to the final tuition payment of the year in July 2017.
A 10% discount will be offered to families who wish to make upfront payment in full of annual tuition at time of initial online registration. (Annual tuition cost with the 10% discount: $2160/$1620/$1080 for respective rates on tuition scale.)
At registration, all parents will sign a form indicating the parent/guardian is responsible for any bank fee incurred for insufficient funds at the time of the automatic monthly withdrawal. Any such fees will be added to future tuition withdrawals for recovery. Upon two months of delinquent payments, Olmsted Falls City School District may reassign the student to a half-day kindergarten program, which is tuition free.
HOW CAN I LEARN MORE?
A PARENT INFORMATION MEETING REGARDING THE NEW FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 28TH AT 7:00 P.M. This meeting will take place at the Olmsted Falls Early Childhood Center located at 7105 Fitch Road. Administrators, faculty and support staff will make a presentation outlining the new full-day kindergarten option and will be available to answer any specific questions to assist families with information to make their decision regarding the best option for their incoming kindergarten student.
