Olmsted Falls Board of Education Fills Vacant Seat
Board appoints Cynthia Tomasch as new member

Olmsted Falls, OH – The Olmsted Falls Board of Education unanimously voted this evening to appoint Mrs. Cynthia Tomasch to fill the vacant seat on the Olmsted Falls Board of Education, which was created by the resignation of a board member earlier this month.  “After significant deliberation, the board decided that Mrs. Tomasch’s extensive executive business experience and dedication as a parent was the exact contribution we were looking for to serve in a leadership role for our schools and our community,” noted Board President Joseph Bertrand. “Her extensive background in corporate finance management, investor relations, sales and marketing will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff and community.”

The Board of Education followed a very specific format and timeline dictated by Ohio Revised Code (ORC) as well as Olmsted Falls Board of Education Policy 0145 to fill the vacated seat.  A total of 22 community members submitted letters of interest outlining their qualifications by the publicized deadline of February 22, 2016, and interviews of all 22 candidates took place over the past three days.

“I’m thrilled to join the team at Olmsted Falls City Schools and humbled to be selected from such an extensive and talented pool of candidates,” said Tomasch.  “As a parent of three current Bulldog students, I understand the excellent quality of education our schools provide and I am looking forward to using my background and experience in this new endeavor.”

Tomasch’s first official meeting will take place on Thursday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at the Olmsted Falls Board of Education.  Tomasch holds a Bachelor’s degree from Denison University and a MBA from Case Western Reserve’s Weatherhead School of Management.  She and her husband Seth have three children in the district. Eli is a junior and Andrew is a freshman at Olmsted Falls High School, and Sarah is a sixth grade student at Olmsted Falls Middle School.  She has resided in Olmsted Falls for the past 17 years.
