OLMSTED FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT NAMES NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

The Olmsted Falls Board of Education voted unanimously at its June board meeting to approve the hiring of Mr. Robert Coxon as the new athletic director for Olmsted Falls High School. Mr. Coxon, who has been employed as a teacher at Olmsted Falls Middle School for the past seven years, will assume his new position at Olmsted Falls High School effective July 1, 2006, prior to the start of the new school year.

“Mr. Coxon brings to Olmsted Falls High School a passion for athletics, a solid work ethic and exceptional organizational skills,” said Mr. Robert Trapp, Principal of Olmsted Falls High School. “In addition, he places the highest priority on the safety and security of our athletes.”

“Mr. Coxon’s energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the well-being of students involved in sports will be a tremendous asset to all of our athletic programs at Olmsted Falls High School,” said Mr. David Lewis, Assistant Superintendent of Olmsted Falls Schools. “We are confident in Mr. Coxon’s ability to run a comprehensive and successful athletic program for our students.”

An educator with more than a decade of experience, Mr. Coxon has been teaching Social Studies and English at Olmsted Falls Middle School since 1999. Mr. Coxon has also served as the Student Activities Coordinator at Olmsted Falls Middle School for the past seven years. Prior to joining the Olmsted Falls Schools, Mr. Coxon taught and coached in Ashtabula Area City Schools and Whitehall City Schools. Mr. Coxon’s athletic experience includes a variety of coaching assignments as well as the coordination of athletic events and intramural sports programs.

“Having been a part of the Olmsted Falls tradition for the last seven years, I have enjoyed my experiences at the Middle School,” said Mr. Coxon. “I look forward to building on the District’s tradition of excellence by working with not only our students, coaches, faculty and administrators, but with the community as a whole.”

Mr. Coxon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Toledo, and Master of Arts in Educational Administration degree from the University of Dayton. He resides in Westlake.
