|
As the warm days of summer fade into the twilight, I would like to welcome parents and students back for the start of the 2010-2011 school year. Our faculty and staff look forward to another successful year at Olmsted Falls High School. This message not only serves as a welcome back, but it is also an avenue for important information regarding the daily operation of the high school. I encourage you to review the following:
- High school bussing will be reinstated for the 2010-2011 school year.
- There will be a morning pick-up/drop-off and an afternoon pick-up/drop-off.
- The morning drop-off time for students will be approximately 7:05 a.m.
- The afternoon pick-up time for students will be approximately 3:00 p.m.
- The Polaris academic year begins on August 24, 2010. The Polaris bus for junior students leaves at 7:20 a.m. Students must arrive at the high school prior to this time and be on the bus prior to departure time.
- Students with late arrival or early release who chose to utilize school transportation will be assigned to a school study hall.
- Please allow for variations in the pick-up/drop-off times until all issues are worked out of the new route system.
- The high school will continue to operate on a 12 period schedule with staggered start and end times (see attached bell schedule).
- There is no homeroom in this schedule. Announcements will occur during lunch periods. In addition, announcements will continue to be posted on the school web site, as well as being displayed electronically via scrolling messages through the school television system.
- Contact information for the school counselors is as follows:
-
Mr. Artino—10th grade and 12th grade (N-Z)
-
Mrs. Davis—11th grade and 12th grade (A-F)
-
Ms. Meinhardt—9th grade and 12th grade (G-M)
-
All students were scheduled according to their requested course load.
- Due to growing student population and space issues, use of modular classrooms will continue during the 2010-2011 school year. For the security and safety of our students, access doors to these modular classrooms will continue to operate on a security system that allows entrance and exit from the building based on the bell schedule.
- The main parking lot is lined with individual student spaces.
- Parking permits are required for the 2010-2011 school year.
- The cost of a permit is $25.
- In order for a student to purchase a parking pass, all prior year student fees must be paid and all 2010-2011 student fees must be paid by October 15, 2010 or the parking permit will be revoked.
- A valid permanent driver’s license must be presented.
- The high school administrative team will monitor the student lot. Students with unregistered vehicles are subject to discipline in accordance with the OFHS code of conduct.
- Open House will be held on Thursday, September 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
- Finally, a reminder to all parents of Class of 2011 seniors that senior portraits for the yearbook must be submitted through Woodard Photographic. While you may use any photography studio for the senior pictures your family chooses to purchase, all seniors must have their complimentary senior portrait taken by Woodard to be included in the senior section of the yearbook. For the convenience of students and parents, photographers from Woodard Photographic will be at Olmsted Falls High School ALL DAY on Thursday, February 10, 2011 and during lunches on Thursday, February 17, 2011 to take these free portrait shots for any of our senior class members who have not yet had their complimentary senior photo taken at the Woodard Photographic Studio. Please contact the high school office at 427-6100 with any questions.
In closing, I would like to express my gratitude for the support of the parents and students of Olmsted Falls High School. My door is always open and I encourage you to contact me at any time.
Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert F. Hill
Principal
