OFCS Optional Chromebook Device Insurance Program - Deadline October 30, 2020 (10/16/20 4:15 PM)

To OFCS Families of Students with District-Issued Chromebook Devices:

With the school year well underway and distribution of available district Chromebooks nearly complete, we are emailing to provide information to families about the district’s OPTIONAL Chromebook Insurance Plan.  If your student does not have a district-issued Chromebook device, you can disregard this email.

Beginning with last school year’s launch of the district’s 1:1 initiative (for students in grades 4-9), Olmsted Falls City Schools offered families an opportunity to participate in an OPTIONAL Chromebook Insurance Plan to release the parent/guardian from having to pay for loss or damage to their child’s district-issued device (up to 2 times during the school year). With many additional devices issued due to the impact of COVID-19 on our district’s operations, Olmsted Falls City Schools is extending the Chromebook Insurance Plan for the 2020-2021 school year to ALL FAMILIES OF STUDENTS K-12 WITH A DISTRICT-ISSUED CHROMEBOOK DEVICE, even those in grade levels not currently participating in the district’s official 1:1 initiative (which now spans grades 4-10).

 

Optional Chromebook Insurance Plans Available:

 

Individual Chromebook Insurance Plan

Cost:  $30 per student

Coverage Period: 2020-2021 School Year ending June 8, 2021  

Includes: Up to 2 repairs for designated student’s device

 

Family Chromebook Insurance Plan

Cost:  $50 per family

Coverage Period: 2020-2021 School Year ending June 8, 2021  

Includes: Up to 5 total repairs across all devices issued to students in the same family. 

 

The Optional Chromebook Insurance Plans will be available for purchase from October 16-30 through your EZPay account. A plan must be selected and purchased by Friday, October 30th in order to be activated for the current school year.  After October 30, 2020, the Optional Chromebook Insurance will no longer be available for purchase for the current school year.

 

How Can I Purchase an Optional Chromebook Insurance Plan?

If you are interested in purchasing the optional insurance for an individual student or for all student in your family, below are the directions to pay for and finalize the insurance coverage for your child’s device

1) Click on this link https://www.spsezpay.com/Olmsted/login.aspx 

2) Login to your EZ-PAY account (if you do not have one you may create one) 

3) In the upper right hand corner of the screen you will see an option for ACTIVITY FEE 

4) Click ACTIVITY FEE and select either the Individual Chromebook Insurance ($30) OR the Family Chromebook Insurance ($50) policy.

5) Payment is due at the time of sign-up. This will begin coverage for the Chromebook. 

 

Again, the deadline for securing optional insurance coverage is Friday, October 30th.  If you have not purchased the optional coverage by October 20, 2020, you will not have coverage for the 2020-2021 school year. 

 

For devices not covered by the district’s Optional Chromebook Insurance Plan, families are responsible for the cost to repair/replace the device your child has been issued.  Following are examples of estimated repair/replacement costs that could be incurred:

 

Cracked Screen  $55

Power Adapter Charger $30

Keyboard $45

Complete Device Replacement $250
