BOARD MEMBER CYNTHIA TOMASCH TO LEAVE OLMSTED FALLS BOARD OF EDUCATION FOLLOWING YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE; BOARD BEGINS PROCESS TO FILL VACANCY
Current Board of Education Member Cynthia Tomasch has submitted her resignation from the Board following nearly seven years of dedicated service citing personal reasons. The Board of Education officially accepted Mrs. Tomasch’s resignation at the regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, November 17th, and her resignation will be effective December 31, 2022. In anticipation of the board vacancy on December 31, 2022, the Board will interview prospective candidates during the month of December to be prepared to appoint the new board member during the Annual Organization Meeting scheduled for January 12, 2023.
“Mrs. Tomasch has made a significant and positive impact since joining the Olmsted Falls Board of Education in 2016,” said Board President Holly Neumann. “Cynthia always puts students first, evaluating the effect of each board decision and asking probing questions to fully understand the issues at hand. She possesses a keen financial sense, is always mindful of fiscal responsibility and serves on the Treasurer’s Finance Committee.”
“Cynthia’s thoughtful strategic planning encouraging collaboration between board and district leadership has also brought great added value to our organization,” added Mrs. Neumann. “She will certainly leave the Board with a legacy of service and lasting contributions.”
The Board of Education will immediately commence with the following required steps to fill the vacant Board position:

- Seek qualified and interested candidates from the community through the news media, word of mouth, and contacts with appropriate organizations.

- Appoint the Board Member from the pool of candidates within thirty (30) days after the vacancy occurs (on or before January 31, 2023). The Board of Education plans to formally appoint the new Board Member at its Annual Organizational Meeting on January 12, 2023.

If the newly appointed board member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election held in November of 2023. The winner of that election will take office on January 11, 2024 and serve until December 31, 2027.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve the students, staff and community of Olmsted Falls City Schools,” added Mrs. Neumann. “I encourage anyone who is interested in this opportunity to submit an application. Our community is filled with wonderful people and I’m confident we will have no shortage of strong candidates.”
