IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR OFCS FAMILIES/STAFF: INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 4TH (12/11/2020, 4:03 PM)

December 11, 2020

Dear Bulldog Community,

The following announcement is being made today in order to try and provide as much notice to our families as possible. I’m writing to you with an important communication regarding our instructional model beginning the week of January 4, 2021.

Under normal circumstances students and staff would return to in-person school on January 4. I am writing to make you aware that the district will intentionally return to Remote eLearning following the holiday season for one week. This will include all Olmsted Falls students.

My hope is that by making the changes now, we may be able to avoid any surge in COVID-19 cases resulting from the upcoming holiday activities and travel. We recognize that the winter holidays will bring friends and family together. People will choose to be in close quarters with one another without facial coverings, and that will further expose them to COVID-19. While there is a likelihood of this happening during other times, it will likely increase from December 19 through January 3--especially on December 31st. Again, the district will be in full Remote eLearning (virtual learning), from January 4 through January 8, and will return to a hybrid schedule on January 11.

Please keep an eye out for communication from my office that will provide more information about potential changes to the instructional model that could begin as soon as January 11, 2021. As we continue to do our very best to deliver high quality instruction that inspires and empowers students, we have conversations as to how we may be able to provide more. While the ultimate goal is to return to school for 5-days each week (in person), we are collaborating and determining ways that we can provide students with additional instruction.

I know we will get through this by working together. We will continue to do everything we can to be able to provide in-person learning to our students when possible. I appreciate your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Lloyd
