Personal Beliefs & Leadership Principles
After more than three decades serving various roles in public education my belief in it has never been stronger. Public education is the cornerstone of our American, democratic republic. Regardless of where you come from, how much money you make, what your beliefs are, or what someone thinks your abilities might be, public schools serve ALL students and represent the possibility of everything that the United States of America has to offer its citizenry.
From time to time, my administrative team and I explore our personal core values. We recently engaged in this exercise in order to identify our personal values and discussed how they influence our individual leadership behaviors. The five, personal core values that I identified were:

Compassion: Having an awareness of others feelings and where they are coming from.

Integrity: Acting in accordance with your moral and ethical standards and not wavering.

Family: Valuing time with those that we love and making it a priority.

Wisdom: Having sound judgment based on knowledge, experience and understanding.

Happiness: Finding joy and fulfillment in life.
The idea here is that a person leads with what they hold personal. It directs leadership behaviors which in turn influences how they show up, interact with others and solve problems.
In our school district, how we treat people is central to the Olmsted Falls City School District experience. In order to inspire and empower our students to make a contribution to the world, they need to know that we see them and care about them. Our avenue to inspire and empower the students that caregivers send to us is through engagement, and in order to truly engage students they need to know we’re interested in what they think if they feel connected to the students and adults around them.
We recognize that caregivers have options as to where they send their students. On behalf of the people that make Olmsted Falls City Schools such an awesome place, we appreciate you considering us and look forward to hearing from you.
