TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

Available via My Ride K-12 beginning August 12th

Olmsted Falls City Schools will provide bus service for all students in grades K-12 for the 2024-2025 school year.  Bus route information for individual students will be available beginning August 12th.

NEW THIS YEAR, the OFCS Transportation Department is launching a web portal and mobile app - called My Ride K-12 - to provide bus stop, route and schedule information. Please read on for important information on how to access your student’s transportation information for this school year via My Ride K-12 beginning Monday, August 12th.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • The district will no longer be sending personalized emails with bus assignment and schedule information like in recent years.

  • However, families who have submitted Alternate Transportation Requests will still receive a separate confirmation email regarding those special requests. Confirmation of Alternate Transportation Requests can be expected by August 12th. If you have not received confirmation of your Alternate Transportation Request by August 12th, please contact the Transportation Department at (440) 427-6350.

  • The Transportation Department will be making adjustments to busing information, including routing and schedules, all the way up through the start of the new school year.

If you have a question or notice something that needs to be corrected with your student’s bus information on or after August 12th, please contact the Transportation Department at (440) 427-6350 so we can assist in making any needed adjustments before the first day of school.

NEW MY RIDE K-12 WEB & MOBILE APP FOR OFCS TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, Olmsted Falls City Schools will use the My Ride K-12 web and mobile app to allow parents and students to access their own secure data for bus stop location, route, and pickup time.  The Transportation Department will also use the My Ride K-12 app to provide notifications for significant delays throughout the year.  The My Ride K-12 app also provides parents/guardians with the ability to message the OFCS Transportation Department directly.

Families can access 2024-2025 transportation information for their student(s) beginning on Monday, August 12th - either through the My Ride K-12 web portal, or by using the My Ride K-12 mobile app.  For detailed instructions on accessing My Ride K-12 either via the website portal, or the mobile app, please click the link below to access the User Guide that will take you through the set-up process step-by-step:

IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS:

  • Bus assignment and schedule provided in the My Ride K-12 app for your student(s) are approximate based on the student roster as of the time the routes were made.

  • Pick-up and drop-off times may vary due to additional or withdrawn students that impact the number of stops on a given route.

  • Please plan to have students out at their bus stop AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE their scheduled pick-up time.

  • Weather conditions, road construction, traffic and train delays can also impact pick-up and drop-off times.

  • Routes tend to run slower for the first week or so of school.

Address Changes

The Transportation Department is advising parents to please contact them with any address changes over the summer, so students can get assigned to the appropriate bus routes. Please simply plan to call 427-6350 to provide the updated information.  If no answer, please leave parent name & phone number, along with student's name, grade, and new address info on the voicemail.  This information can also be emailed to tschaef@ofcs.net or smisick@ofcs.net. Please note that official address changes MUST be made directly with your child's school building when school office re-opens following the summer break. Advising the Transportation Department is simply a planning tool and does not result in a change in a student's official building records.

Change in Transportation Use

The Transportation Department also asks families to please call in to advise if you know your student(s) will not be using bus service at all in the upcoming school year. This helps them in planning the most efficient routes possible by being able to eliminate unnecessary stops. Please call 427-6350 or email tschaef@ofcs.net or smisick@ofcs.net to report if your child will not be using transportation services during the 2024-2025 school year.

Alternate Transportation Requests

Annual Alternate Transportation Requests can be completed online using the new electronic Alternate Transportation Request Form.  Alternate Transportation Requests must be submitted annually for each child BY JUNE 15TH for the following school year.

About Alternate Transportation Requests:  Who Needs One?

An Alternate Transportation Request form is FOR ANY STUDENT WHO WILL REQUIRE  TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS OTHER THAN RIDING THE SCHOOL BUS TO/FROM THEIR HOME ADDRESS.  Please Note:  Students planning to ride the school bus to and from their home residence each school day DO NOT need to complete this form.

Students must be picked up and dropped off by an Olmsted Falls School bus at a single location, morning and afternoon, for the entire school year. This location may be the student’s residence OR another single, designated alternate location within District boundaries. No day-to-day or week-to-week changes will be permitted.

Parents will be asked to identify a single location for pick-up and drop-off for their child(ren) that is consistent the entire school year. If this single location is different than the child’s residence, then an Alternative Transportation Form must be submitted to the Olmsted Falls Transportation Department on or before June 15th each year.

Students may still be dropped off or picked up by local daycare providers at the school which they attend or at the Falls-Lenox hub. This will also require an Alternate Transportation Form be submitted by June 15th each year.

If you have a student who falls into any of the categories below - INCLUDING CAR RIDERS - please plan to complete an Alternate Transportation Request online by June 15th:

  • Students in grades PreK-12 with a SINGLE, DESIGNATED ALTERNATE LOCATION FOR PICK UP AND DROP OFF
  • Students in grades PreK-12 using OUTSIDE TRANSPORTATION OR ESCORTED BY LOCAL DAY CARE CENTER FACILITIES IN EITHER A.M. OR P.M., OR BOTH A.M./P.M. — INCLUDING OLMSTED COMMUNITY OUTREACH (OCO) PROGRAM
  • **NEW** CAR RIDERS:  For students in grades PreK-8 only who will be DROPPED OFF/PICKED UP DAILY BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN OR OTHER DESIGNATED ADULT IN EITHER A.M. OR P.M., OR BOTH A.M./P.M.  (PLEASE NOTE:  Advising OFCS Transportation of student car rider status helps maximize efficiency of bus routing.  Individual school buildings may still have an additional required form to coordinate dismissal of car riders at the building level.)
