Leo Spagnola Brings Two Decades of Experience to His New Role as Principal of Olmsted Falls High School

OFHS Principal Mr. Leo SpagnolaOlmsted Falls, OH - June 21, 2019 - The Olmsted Falls Board of Education is pleased to officially announce the hiring of a new principal for Olmsted Falls High School.  The Board voted to approve Mr. Leo Spagnola as the new principal of Olmsted Falls High School, which serves more than 1,260 students in grades 9 through 12, at a special meeting held this week.  Mr. Spagnola will officially begin his position as the Olmsted Falls High School Principal on August 1, 2019, prior to the start of the new school year.

“Mr. Spagnola is a highly approachable and relational leader with two decades of experience,” said Dr. Jim Lloyd, Superintendent of Olmsted Falls City Schools.  “His proven ability to build and maintain a school building culture that inspires and empowers all types of learners will be an outstanding addition to our educational community.”

Mr. Spagnola comes to Olmsted Falls with twenty years of combined experience.  He has served as a classroom teacher at the middle school level, a coach and athletic director, and as both a middle school and high school principal. Mr. Spagnola is a student-centered leader who places high value on building and maximizing a positive school culture to support both student and staff success. Most recently, he served as the principal of Parma Senior High School in the Parma City School District.

“It is a privilege to lead this excellent learning community. I am very grateful and excited for the opportunity to join the Olmsted Falls High School family as the new principal,” said Mr. Leo Spagnola.  “I feel honored and blessed to be able to join this team as well as be a part of the Bulldog Nation.”  

“It is my hope that our school will be a “home away from home” for students, staff, families and community members,” added Mr. Spagnola.  “I look forward to working alongside of all the wonderful people that make up Bulldog Country.”

Mr. Spagnola holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Bluffton College.  He earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University, where he received his Principal Licensure for grades 4-9 and grades 7-12. 

“Mr. Spagnola’s dynamic leadership style impressed our team throughout the extensive selection process and we are thrilled to have him join Olmsted Falls City Schools,” added Dr. Lloyd.

A special Meet and Greet event with Mr. Spagnola will be scheduled for August, ahead of the official start of school.  All families of students attending Olmsted Falls High School this coming school year will be invited.

Mr. Spagnola replaces former OFHS Principal Dr. Holly Schafer, who had been with Olmsted Falls City School District as the principal of Olmsted Falls High School for the past seven years.
