OLMSTED FALLS BOARD OF EDUCATION WELCOMES NEWEST MEMBER
Bob Perez Sworn in as Newest Board Member at January Organizational Meeting
Olmsted Falls, OH ‒ January 11, 2024 ‒ The Olmsted Falls Board of Education is pleased to officially welcome Mr. Bob Perez as the newest member of the Board. Mr. Perez was elected to the Board in the November 7, 2023 election, after running for an open seat vacated by long-time Board member Dr. Jodi DeMarco. Mr. Perez was officially sworn in by Olmsted Falls City Schools Treasurer Mr. Brett Robson during the Board of Education’s annual organizational meeting held January 11, 2024.
“The Board is excited to welcome Mr. Perez,” said newly appointed Olmsted Falls Board of Education President Phil Eckenrode. “Since moving into the Olmsted community for our Triple A school district, Mr. Perez has been an active and engaged member of our school community, volunteering his time and talents across multiple groups and organizations. He is a friendly and familiar face who is well-informed on local education issues.”
“At the center of my core are selfless service and integrity,” said Board Member Mr. Perez. “For much of my adult life, I have served in one capacity or another - in the U.S. Air Force, at home or abroad, and in my local community and its schools. I very much look forward to now serving on the Olmsted Falls Board of Education and to building on the Bulldog Way.”
“In addition to his extensive volunteer efforts in support of our school community, Mr. Perez has an extensive professional background spanning from his military service to his expertise in human resources and project management, which will be a great asset to our Board,” Mr. Eckenrode added. “We look forward to having him on the Board and to the positive impact he will make.”
Bob Perez holds an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from American Military University, and a Master of Arts degree in Management & Leadership from Webster University. Mr. Perez is a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He currently serves as Facilities Supervisor & Project Manager, Site Support, for Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) in Cleveland. Prior to his current position with DFAS, Mr. Perez worked in human resource management for Albemarle County Public Schools and Local Government as well as for the City of Charlottesville Police Department.
Mr. Perez and his wife, Jenny, an US Air Force Veteran herself, moved to the Olmsted community in 2021 and have two children currently attending Olmsted Falls City Schools. The school district’s commitment to providing a high quality “Triple A” educational experience for students was one of the primary factors in their decision to move here.
“Now that my military family has established its roots in the Olmsted community, I am proud and excited to serve in this new role as Board member to help ensure success for each student through our district’s Triple A experience,” added Mr. Perez. “I also look forward to simultaneously ensuring our staff, support staff, and administrators have all the tools they need to guarantee quality education, while being a good steward of taxpayers dollars.”
Mr. Perez is actively involved in the Olmsted community as a member of several groups and organizations including Olmsted Falls Kiwanis Club, Olmsted Falls Athletic Boosters, and Falls-Lenox/ECC and Olmsted Falls Middle School PTA units. Bob is an active parent volunteer at both Falls-Lenox Primary School and Olmsted Falls Middle School. He has also served as a member of the Olmsted Township Board of Zoning Appeals.
